Here are a few requirements and steps you’ll need to complete before getting Behind-the-Wheel:

Before beginning any Parent Taught Driving Course, you MUST first complete the Parent-Taught Driver Education Instructor Designation Services Request and purchase the Parent Taught Driver Education (PTDE) Program Guide from the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR). TDLR will charge a separate fee for the PTDE Program Guide, that is not included in our course fee. Click HERE.

Our course is State-Approved, Online, Convenient, Affordable, and the Fastest Way to Get Your Texas Permit & License. 

Our course is Online & Mobile and includes the “Official” Permit test at NO additional cost! 

You’ll be able to take your Class C Road Rules & Road Signs (PERMIT) test, directly through our website, the same day you enroll in our course; after you successfully complete Classroom Module 1 of 12.

Your Official DPS Written “Permit” Test is made available on your dashboard, as soon as you complete Module 1 of 12….👍

 

Here’s the scoop…

PHASE I – Learner License (Permit)

Per Texas Driver Education Administrative Rule, in order to qualify for the DE964 (Learner License) certificate, required by DPS for the “Permit” application, the student must complete classroom Modules 1 and pass the Official Permit Test, which we offer, free of charge, directly through our website. 

 

  1. Enroll & Complete Module 1 of 12 (6 Classroom Hours)
  2. Take Your Official Permit Test Directly through our Website
  3. You MUST be 15 Years of Age to take the Class C Road Rules & Signs Test
  4. Download & Print your DE964 “Learner License” Certificate 
  5. Schedule your Application Appointment with DPS
  6. Apply for your Learner License (Permit) at DPS 
  7. Begin your in-car instruction with your designated parent-instructor

Our Course is the FASTEST Allowed by Texas Law 🚙💨

  • Our course is self-paced. Which means that you can progress through the lessons at your own pace. 
  • You have one (1) year from the “order date” to complete Modules 1-12 & the 14 and 30 Hour Driving Logs.
  • Module 1 can be completed the same day that you enroll in our course. 
  • The classroom requirements (Modules 1-12) can be completed in approximately one (1) week.
  • The 14 & 30 Hour Behind-the-Wheel Instruction Logs can be completed in as little as 22 days after you receive your Texas Learner License (Permit).

The entire course; Modules 1-12 and 44 Hours of Behind—the-Wheel Instruction, can be completed in approximately 5-7 weeks

*The Student must have their learner license (permit) before beginning any behind-the-wheel (in-car) instruction. 

There are two Phases to driver education in Texas…

DPS requires two (2) DE964 certificates for this process; 

one (1) for the Learner License and one (1) for the Provisional License application.

You MUST have a valid Learner License (permit) from DPS to begin any in-car instruction.

 

PHASE II: This Way to Your License

Per Texas Driver Education Administrative Rule, in order to qualify for the final DE964 (LICENSE) certificate, required by DPS for the Driving Test, the student must complete all state-mandated course requirements; classroom Modules 1-12 and the 14 & 30 Hour Driving Log. 

 

  1. Complete Modules 2 thru 12 (can be completed in one (1) week)
  2. Complete the 14 & 30- Hour Driving Logs (44 Hours – 2 hours per day max)
  3. Request your DE964 (License) Certificate from your Dashboard
  4. Download, Save and Print your DE964 (License) Certificate 
  5. MUST be at least 16 years of age to test & apply for a License
  6. MUST have a “permit” for at least 6 months to test & apply for a license
  7. Complete the Impact Texas Teen Driver (ITTD) Video
  8. Schedule your Driving Test Appointment with DPS (link in HELP tab)
  9. Buckle Up & Proceed with Caution! 🚙💨

DE964 Certificate of Completion is a legal document, required by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) as part of the Permitting & Licensing process.

To qualify for a DE964 Certificate of Completion every Texas teen, ages 14-17, must enroll and successfully complete a State-Approved Driver Education course, like ours.

We allow one (1) year, from the date of purchase, to complete Modules 1-12 and the 14 & 30 Hour Behind-the-Wheel Instruction Logs.

NO, our course includes the “Official” Class C Road Rules & Signs (Permit) test at NO additional cost – you’ll be able to take it directly through our website

Please note that you will be required to take the “driving test” for your license at a DPS testing center or through an approved 3rd party tester.  DPS & 3rd Party testers charge a separate fee that is NOT included in or associated with our course fee.

Per the state, a Teen who meets the following requirements is eligible to take our Parent Taught Driver Education Course:

  • Must be ages 14 – 17.
  • Must be a current Texas Resident.
  • Must be currently enrolled in school (Public, Private or Homeschool):
  • If graduated, the student may present a High School Diploma or its equivalent

Yes, you must complete the Impact Texas Teen Driver video. This video is a separate State of Texas requirement, that must be completed directly through the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) website.

There is no difference, in terms of course content and state approval, however, we’ve been at this for a minute…our course is Online, Mobile, More Convenient, Much Less Expensive and the Fastest Way to Get Your Permit & License!

Yes, the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR), will charge a separate fee (currently $20) for the PTDE Program Guide.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will charge a separate fee for the Learner License and a separate fee for the Provisional License.

If you decide to take your Driving Test through an Approved 3rd Party Tester, they will charge a separate fee for their service that is NOT associated with or included in our course fee.
